IELTS Test Format in India
In India, IELTS is currently available in both Computer-Delivered and Paper-Based formats.
For the Computer-Delivered IELTS, the Listening, Reading, and Writing sections are completed on a computer, offering faster results and greater flexibility in test dates.
For the Paper-Based IELTS, candidates complete the Listening, Reading, and Writing sections by hand using pen and paper. This format remains available at selected test centers across India.
Globally, IELTS is gradually transitioning towards a fully computer-delivered format. However, paper-based testing is still active in India at this time.
The Speaking test remains the same in both formats and is conducted face-to-face with a certified IELTS examiner.
Students can choose the format based on their comfort level, typing speed, and test-taking preference.
